Youth Canyon Adventure Days 2021

Alpine canyoning is the adventure of exploring steep narrow mountain canyons by descending them usually in the water flow. The canyoneer uses special clothing (wet and dry suits), ropes, and techniques to hike, down-climb, and rappel, whatever obstacles are encountered.
The Youth Canyon Adventure Day (ages 12-18 ) will be an Introductory Workshop designed to introduce adventurous youth to the sport of canyoning. Each adventure day will be conducted by a local guide service and have a maximum of eight (8) participants for the novice days and six (6) participants for the intermediate day .
The adventure will cost $25 per participant. Need based scholarships are available from the Ouray Canyon Coalition, Inc., call for application.
Parents must complete a permission form and liability waiver for each participant. Workshops will start at 8:30 AM in Ouray. All necessary equipment will be supplied. For complete details and to register call Greg Foy at 970-318-0989.
Participants will need to wear their "play clothes". You will get wet! You will be provided with a complementary helmet, harness, rappel device, and splash jacket to use for the outing. Low top hiking shoes, trail shoes or sneakers work best. Unless you have bad ankles stay away from heavy hiking boots. Shoes must enclose your foot the entire way around. No see-through netting, amphibian shoes, Chaco's, Tevas, Keens, etc. No sandals or water shoes. Please make sure you have the proper footwear or you will not be able to attend the workshop.
